INSTRUCTOR PROFILE
Elwood Gilliland has a wide and varied electrical background, having worked
in the electric utility, mining, petroleum production and refining, natural
gas, and electric motor industries since 1958.
He has been a speaker at electrical conventions throughout the country and
has written technical articles that have appeared in Electronic Servicing,
Electrical Construction and Maintenance, and Electrical Contractor
magazines. Over 2000 individuals have attended his training seminars from
most states and several foreign countries.
He developed special programs for the Electrical Apparatus Service
Association that were conducted in major cities nationwide.
He is Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) qualified for coal mine
surface, low, medium, and high voltage work, and for MSHA electrical
qualification retraining. He also holds a Wyoming State Journeyman
Electricians’ License.
Elwood did the electrical design on the first solid-state control for
ultra-high-slip, multiple-mode-motors, and has developed a system that uses
fiber optics for making phase-angle measurements on high voltage lines.
His experience as a lineman, technician, maintenance electrician, electrical
supervisor and technical consultant enables him to relate to seminar
attendees in a positive, straightforward manner. His presentations contain a
sought-after balance of theory and practice. |
