1.  Auto Ranging 4000 Count True RMS DMM - TPI's 440 has 9 measurement functions and 0.3% basic DC accuracy. True RMS capability allows the user to obtain accurate measurements of non-sinusoidal AC voltage and current waveforms.

2.  1 Mhz Oscilloscope - View industrial power signals with clarity on the scopemeter display.  Simple-to-operate oscilloscope function provides a "picture" of voltage or current waveforms making it easy to detect system problems such as harmonics and waveform distortion.

3.  Trend Mode - Graph reading over a predetermined time period to check for the presence of undesirable voltage or current variations.

4.  Component Test - (Curve Tracer) Check voltage current signatures on capacitors, resistors, and semiconductors.

5.  Logic Tests - Indicates TTL and CMOS logic level tranisitions up to 2 Mhz.

6.  Frequency Counter - Measure frequency from 1 Hz to 2 MHz and display duty cycle, pulse width, and period.

A256 AC/DC Current Adapter

This is the adapter you will probably want for most motor control applications. It is good for use up to 400 amps, but is still small enough to be convenient in tight MCC enclosures.  For improved accuracy at lower currents, the unit also has a switch selectable 40 amp range.  Another plus: it is a DC probe which is handy for measuring the DC output of exciters and generators, welders, and station battery chargers.

DC operation is accomplished through the use of state-of-the-art Hall Effect Circuitry.
This adapter also works with the 183 Multimeter as well as the 440 Scopemeter and the 460 Dual Channel Oscilloscope.

A254 AC/DC Current Adapter

Here's a neat and safe way to measure currents on High Voltage Equipment.  The A254 adapter has a maximum rating of 60 amps, but is accurate even below one amp, so you can make current measurements on the 5-amp secondary of Current Transformers (CT's) and stay out of the High Voltage Cubicle. The small opening diameter (1/2") insures good coupling but is large enough for protective relay and other instrument wiring.  See our Application Note below.

AC Current Measurement
on High Voltage Systems
 

Quick and safe measurement of High Voltage System Currents using the TPI A254 Low-Current Clamp Adapter. Low range accuracy permits measurements on the system Current Transformer (CT) secondary windings.  Adapter can be used with most TPI Multimeters, the TPI 460 Oscilloscope, or the 440 Scopemeter.

Using TPI 460 Oscilloscopes to record Medium Voltage (MV) Motor Starting Characteristics. Recordings will provide measurement data required to properly calibrate and program protective relay equipment. The information can also be stored and downloaded to a computer providing a valuable reference for future system troubleshooting.
