Description

The TPI 255 is a pocked-sized digital clamp-on AC ammeter with AC and DC voltage measuring capability, Ohms range, and Min / Max Recording Feature. This low-cost instrument is ideal for general purpose industrial electrical work.

• Minimum and maximum value hold (record) capability.  Ideal for checking motor starting current (locked rotor amps - LRA), and storing peak or minimum values of voltage or current.

• Max Voltage - 600 Volts AC or DC
   

• Ohms range has Continuity Buzzer for convenience when 'ringing-out" circuit wiring.

• Troubleshooting oilfield or water system pumping panels.
   

• Starting and running amperage checks on small and medium-size AC motors.
   

• Current measurement in Motor Control Centers (MCC's) and in control boxes with limited space.
   

• Checking power and lighting panel circuit breaker loading.
   

• Determining power and lighting transformer loading.

Note: This ammeter is ideal for general purpose electrical work.  If you are working with large loads up to 1000 amps, or with AC Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's) and inverters which produce waveform distortion and generate a lot of harmonics, you will want to use the TPI Model 296 Clamp-on Ammeter Meter or the TPI 183 True RMS Multimeter with a True RMS Clamp Adapter in order to make accurate current measurements on non-sinusoidal waveforms.
